Episode 15: Rodent Wars!

Chris, Derek, Dylan, Keith, & Nicole talk for an hour and forty minutes, discussing two current comic series that focus on chivalrous rodents, and why that's really not a bad thing.

Mice TemplarBryan J. L. Glass & Michael Avon Oeming's sprawling mouse knight epic is going up against Mouse Guard, David Petersen's beautifully rendered tale of mice defending their realm. We promise, there's a larger distinction between them than a semantic minefield. Hear the crew battle it out over which book about chivalrous tiny mammals deserves to capture the hearts and minds of the comic community!

EARLY JULY

Next we have an interview with Jeremy Whitley the author of Princeless, and The Order of Dagonet. He has the first issue of Dagonet and a Princeless one-shot coming out in July, plus he's got a couple Glyph awards and Eisner Nominations under his belt. We can't wait to talk to him about where he got the inspiration for this critically acclaimed series!

LATE JULY

Our next featured book will be Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson. Just in time for Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, we will be taking an in-depth look at the story that re-invented the Batman. It's another controversial book for the crew, so be sure to hear the raucous battle that is sure to ensue.

Indie Spotlight #4: Cinebooks Et Bande Dessinées

Remember that "mini-episode" we promised to tide everyone over until Rodent Wars?

Dylan, & Nicole decided to do an epsiode devoted to Cinebook, a UK publisher that brings French language graphic albums to the US.  We focused on the first chapters of two very different series. Queen Margot, the story of a princess growing up in France during the time of the Huguenots. And Orbital, a series (at this point) about two intergalactic space cops trying to keep the peace in a society where strife and distrust between species is the norm. This is just a sampling of all of the amazing stories in this publisher's catalog. Do yourself a favor and check out some 9th art bande dessinĂ©e.

Also, Dylan wants to apologize to Sylvain Runberg for butchering the pronunciation of his last name.

The intro music is "Pegase" by Thomas Fersen

LAST WEEK IN JUNE

Our next episode will be Rodent Wars: Mice Templar V. Mouse Guard. Bryan J. L. Glass & Michael Avon Oeming's sprawling mouse knight epic is going up against David Petersen's beautifully rendered tale of mice defending the realm. We promise, there's a larger distinction between them than a semantic minefield. Hear the largest assemblage of the crew battle it out over which book about chivalrous tiny mammals deserves to capture the hearts and minds of the comic community!

We Apologize For the Delay

As silent as the podcast may seem right now, there is a lot of noise going on behind the scenes.
We scheduled several interviews, and book spotlights for the next few weeks. But when we finally mapped it out on the calender, we realized that there would not be a new episode released until the end of June! While we will be cobbling together a small podcast that should go up in the middle of June, it probably won't be longer than a half an hour.

We appreciate your patience, and once this lull is over, things will be back to normal... or as normal as ever.
